Sara Silva was the latest researcher interviewed for the SPECIES Society’s newsletter. The LASIGE’s integrated researcher spoke on how she discovered her now main area of research, Genetic Programming. She talked about her career path, inspirations and choices, and shared her perspective on the future of Machine Learning.
Sara Silva is an associate editor of Transactions on Evolutionary Learning and Optimization (TELO), Swarm and Evolutionary Computation (SWEVO), and Genetic Programming and Evolvable Machines (GPEM). She created the MATLAB Genetic Programming Toolbox (GPLAB). The researcher is the General Chair of the upcoming Genetic and Evolutionary Computation Conference (GECCO 2023) and she co-authored the recently published book “Lectures on Intelligent Systems” by Springer. Sara Silva was a member of the SPECIES Society’s Advisory Board in 2021 and 2022.
