Living Framework for Cooperative Games

Date: 30/01/2025

A team led by researchers at LASIGE, students (Pedro Pais, David Gonçalves, Daniel Reis, João Godinho, João Morais, Manuel Piçarra, Pedro Trindade) and integrated members (João Guerreiro, André Rodrigues), has published a web tool called the “Living Framework for Cooperative Games” (LFCG) that captures high-level structures encountered in cooperative games. With the gaming industry continuously evolving and introducing novel designs, having a resource that consolidates current knowledge and aggregates new information is crucial. This tool, part of a recently published article, aims to address the limited efforts at formalizing concepts around cooperative game design, which often result in static and resistant-to-change outcomes.

The LFCG offers users an interactive platform with detailed views for each dimension, populated with examples reported by the community. It serves as a design tool, providing a shared language for stakeholders to communicate the requirements of cooperative gaming experiences.

To learn more about it you can see a short video of the work presented at CHI 2024.
