As part of the Ciências ULisboa community, LASIGE participated in the 2025 edition of the Ciências Research & Innovation Day, showcasing the scientific work produced within the unit. The event took place on October 22, 2025, serving as a public platform to highlight the best science from this centenary institution. It provided faculty members and researchers an opportunity to share their work with both the internal and external community, thereby promoting collaboration and networking.
As in previous years, LASIGE students presented their work during the event’s poster session. This year, participants included Isabel Trancoso, Laura Balbi, Luís Santos, Jorge Guerreiro, Rúben Branco, and Zygimantas Jasiunas.
The event marked the inauguration of the updated Science Walk, and it was an opportunity to pre-launch Ciências ULisboa’s new website. Carlos Duarte, LASIGE’s integrated member and researcher on digital accessibility, presented the exclusive preview of the new platform.
The event also featured flash talks by researchers whose work distinguished them in various scientific fields within Ciências ULisboa over the past year. LASIGE’s integrated member, Tiago Guerreiro, was awarded the Scientific Merit Award in recognition of his scientific output in the previous year. The researcher was the member with the highest level of scientific productivity not only in the Departments of Informatics but also across the Ciências community. The researcher concluded the flash talk session with the presentation titled “Designing Technology for What People Value”.
The award given to Tiago Guerreiro stands also as a recognition of the “work done in the field of technological solutions to improve people’s quality of life and independence, assessing their impact in real contexts”, as put by Margarida Santos-Reis, Ciencias ULisboa former vice-director, and in accordance with the goals of LASIGE’s RLE IHCI.
