João G. Farinha, LASIGE PhD student, presented his work “Mind2Action, Translating Brain waves into Actions” at  UniVerse: Entrepreneurial Academy – a parallel session at Web Summit, on 11 November 2025, in Lisbon.

This event featured selected groups from diverse universities who brought forward innovative solutions with significant commercial potential and the promise of far-reaching, long-lasting impact.

Farinha presented a multimodal approach for brain intent prediction in real-world environments, combining AI and novel wearable devices. Mini survey results indicate strong interest from investors and students in this area, especially considering the rapidly growing neurotechnology brain computer interface market. This work is being supervised by the LASIGE integrated members Nuno Garcia and Carlos Duarte.

The event organizers considered that the UniVerse – Entrepreneurial Academy fulfilled its goal of affirming the strategic role of academia in the country’s economic and technological development.
