As one of the leading Portuguese research centers, LASIGE is frequently evaluated by FCT (Portuguese Science Agency). We have now received result from the last evaluation process that took place between 2018 and 2019. This evaluation concerned our activity from the 2013-17 period and our strategy plan for the next 5 years.

Last December, we welcomed the international evaluation panel “ENGINEERING SCIENCES AND TECHNOLOGIES – Computer Science and Information Technologies”, composed by renown experts in the field: Carla P. Gomes, Alan Macworth, Fernando Fernández Rebollo, David Padua, Douglas H. Fisher, Edwina Rissland, Haym Hirsh, Keshav Pingali.

We have now received the results of the panel evaluation, with LASIGE being awarded the top grade, Excellent. For each of the three criteria (Quality, merit, relevance and the internationalization of the R&D activities of the Integrated Researchers in the R&D Unit Application; Merit of the team of Integrated Researchers; Appropriateness of objectives, strategy, plan of activities and organization), LASIGE achieved 5 out of 5.

We are proud of the image that transpired to the evaluation panel: “The researchers are prominent and very active on the international scene and in the EU. They are publishing in top venues and receiving due recognition. (…) excellent resumes in terms of their involvement in community efforts, awards and publication in top conferences. (…) professionally engaged scholars with international engagement, visibility and success.”

This grade is a reflection of the excellent work done by all LASIGE members: integrated researchers, collaborators, PhD, MSc and BSc students, hired researchers and support staff.
