Three of LASIGE’s MSc students will be developing part of their research work in Carnegie Melon University. This opportunity is the result of their successful application to the Visiting Students Program of CMU Portugal.
The students are Hugo Simão, Guilherme Espada and Paulo Canelas. Hugo’s research work is being supervised by Tiago Guerreiro and pertains to the Accessibilty and Ageing line. Guilherme’s and Paulo’s research work are in the scope of the Reliable Software Systems line and both are supervised by Alcides Fonseca.
As stated in the Program guidelines, the main goal of the Visiting Students Program is to provide high-quality research opportunities, offering master students the possibility of developing their knowledge and skills as researchers, while opening perspectives for career opportunities in cutting-edge fields of Information and Communication Technologies. Applicants have the opportunity to spend the second semester of their Master´s thesis year at CMU doing full-time research and this way participate in state-of-the-art research projects, interact with prominent research teams, and be mentored by leading faculty and researchers at CMU.
