LASIGE presents a longstanding record of research contributions in the area of accessible computing, in the assessment, design, and development of technologies for people with different abilities. This research line gathers all the contributions that seek to evaluate or design interfaces for people with disabilities, older adults, or people suffering from situational impairments.
Through a multiple methods approach our researchers Tiago Guerreiro and André Rodrigues identify and validate challenges locally with a diverse set of user expertise and devices, and at scale through the analyses of the largest Android and iOS dedicate forums for blind people. This work contributes with a prioritized corpus of smartphone challenges for blind people, and a discussion on a set of directions for future research that tackle the open and often overlooked challenges.
