The paper "Diagnosing Software Faults Using Multiverse Analysis" co-authored by José Campos, LASIGE integrated member, has been accepted for publication at the International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence (IJCAI2020), a top-ranked artificial intelligence conference (CORE A*, h5-index 67) that will be held in January 2021 either in a virtual event or in Yokohama, Japan.
This work proposes a novel approach to localize software bugs that considers multiple hypothetical universes of a software, each corresponding to a scenario where one of the components (e.g., a statement in the source code) is assumed to be buggy. Our approach optimizes a set of test cases that aim to reduce the expected worst-case effort to diagnose the software overall universes. Overall, our approach significantly reduces the developer's effort to find the root cause of a bug.
