The paper “GenoDedup: Similarity-Based Deduplication and Delta-Encoding for Genome Sequencing Data”, co-authored by LASIGE's Vinicius Cogo and Alysson Bessani has been published in IEEE Transactions on Computers, a top ranked journal (ranked by Google as the number 1 journal on Computer Hardware Design). The paper had also the collaboration of INEST-TEC and University of Minho researcher João Paulo.

The published study concerns Vinicius Cogo's PhD research work on a novel technique of data deduplication that integrates efficient similarity-based deduplication and specialized delta-encoding for genome sequencing data. The developed tool, named GenoDedup, is demonstrated to be highly efficient in balancing space savings and restore performance. The article can be accessed here.
