AccessCamp is a two day workshop, that will take place Saturday (October 24th) and Sunday (October 25th), in which teams of 3-5 people will build and design technologies to solve real-world accessibility problems and have an immediate impact in someone’s life. The main goal is to produce a deliverable, e.g. prototype, report, app, insight, design, etc.
The event, organized by Hugo Nicolau and Tiago Guerreiro, will be hosted by LaSIGE and take place before the 17th International ACM SIGACCESS Conference on Computers and Accessibility (ASSETS 2015). Participation is free to all attendees but there is a limited amount of available spots. Follow this LINK to apply.
Application asks for:
- One idea. We are looking for specific ideas on what you would like to work on. You will still be free to change your idea during AccessCamp. The goal is to generate ideas that a group of 3-5 people can finish in 2 days. Ideas that were previously vetted by end-users are preferable.
- Interests in Accessible Computing. We are looking for people with a variety of backgrounds and interests to participate in AccessCamp. We will ask you to describe your interest and background with accessibility, but previous experience in the field is not a requirement.
AccessCamp will provide an open, creative space for innovation and networking around technology, accessibility, and real-world challenges. Focusing on users with different abilities, solutions can range from web technologies, desktop software, mobile apps, crowdsourcing, wearables, and everything in between.
