Following the award “Computer Sciences and Informatic Engineering-2023 Prize” by Ulisboa/CGD to Alysson Bessani, on November 23, 2023, our researcher was interviewed by Ciências ULisboa.

Alysson Bessani, LASIGE Director and integrated member, reflected on the significance of the award he received recognizing the relevance of the research taken in the LASIGE Computer Science and Engineering Research Centre, and also shared his scientific career:

“My research focuses primarily on improving the reliability and security of computer systems by monitoring and decentralizing them. In recent years, I have divided my attention into two main topics: (1) improving distributed protocols for blockchains and their applications; and (2) collecting and processing information from forums, blogs, etc. (e.g., X/Twitter) using machine learning techniques to discover new cybersecurity threats. In both cases, my research covers both the fundamental or more theoretical issues of these technologies and the more practical and applied aspects of their use in solving real problems in Computer Engineering.”
