Alysson Bessani, LASIGE integrated researcher, was the keynote speaker at DAIS 2025 – International Conference on Distributed Applications and Interoperable Systems, included in the 20th International Federated Conference on Distributed Computing Techniques (DisCoTec 2025), which took place in Lille, France, June 16-20, 2025, organized by the University of Lille.

The talk was about the fundamental role of simplicity in practical dependable distributed systems.

DisCoTec gathers conferences that cover a broad spectrum of distributed computing subjects — from theoretical foundations and formal description techniques, testing and verification methods, to language design and system implementation approaches (COORDINATION, DAIS, FORTE).

DisCoTec is one of the major events sponsored by the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) and the European Association for Programming Languages and Systems (EAPLS).
