LASIGE is part of ATTRACT-DIH, a Digital Innovation Hub that focuses on digital capacity building in the areas of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and High-Performance Computing (HPC). Digital Innovation Hubs are collaborative networks that include specific digital skills centres. The aim of these hubs is to support, disseminate, and adopt advanced digital technologies by companies, especially SMEs, and public administration entities. The initiative aligns with the European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs), that are positioned as a one-stop-shop supporting companies and the public sector in responding to digital challenges and becoming more competitive.
ATTRACT-DIH was recognized as a national DIH in 2021. It was selected to integrate the European Network of Digital Innovation Hubs in 2022. The Hub is funded by the European Commission under the Digital Europe Programme, and nationally, by the Portuguese Recovery and Resilience Plan. The ATTRACT consortia is led by INESC-TEC, which includes research centres, universities, collaborative laboratories, two business associations, and an innovation company. The main goal of ATTRACT DIH is to serve as a qualified access point, supporting companies and the public sector in the design, development, and adoption of solutions based on AI and HPC. Additionally, the initiative aims to strengthen the innovation ecosystem, promoting improvements in organizational performance, and elevating national solutions to the international market.
The initiative seeks to catalyze digital transformation in companies, especially SMEs, and in the Public Administration. As explained by Rui Oliveira, INESC TEC’s administrator and the consortium coordinator, this project wants to support technology-based companies that incorporate AI and HPC into their products and services, but also support organizations that use these technologies. These objectives will be achieved by implementing pilots and technology demonstrators, supporting training, and boosting the innovation ecosystem around these areas. The initiative also explores important business opportunities at the European level in conjunction with the European Digital Innovation Hubs Network. In short, it aims to act as a fully qualified access point (one-stop-shop) to support companies and public administration.
On the 10th of January, ATTRACT will be holding its Official Public Presentation event. It will be an opportunity to showcase the team, areas of expertise and services.
LASIGE’s involvement in the ATTRACT DIH consortium highlights its commitment to advancing digital innovation and technology transfer from the academy to society. LASIGE’s participation is led by integrated member Vinícius Cogo.
