BinBot project, awarded funding through the competitive LASIGE/FCT Seed Projects Call 2025, was showcased, by Frederico Cerqueira, our researcher and MSc student, at Rock in Rio Lisboa as part of the Smart City of Rock initiative at the University of Lisbon stand, where the first full-scale prototype was demonstrated to the public for the first time. During the event, the robot autonomously navigated within a predefined area, allowing visitors to dispose of their waste while also demonstrating its litter detection capabilities using cameras and Artificial Intelligence.
The event represented an important real-world validation of the project, providing the opportunity to gather direct feedback from visitors, evaluate public acceptance of the solution, and participate in several interviews, including a feature on Falar Global, a television program broadcast by CMTV.
