Carlos Duarte, LASIGE’s senior researcher and leader of the A&A research line, attended the LEAD-ME COST action Meeting on Accessibility and Media in the EU. The meeting took place on October 27th, 2022 at the European Parliament in Brussels.

The meeting, hosted by MEP Stelios Kympouropoulos, discussed the status of media accessibility in Europe and counted with the participation of representatives from EBU (European Broadcasters Union), EDF (European Disability Forum), Google, the European Commission, and others. Among the topics discussed, the relationship between the European Accessibility Act (EAA), scheduled to enter into force soon, and the Audio Visual Media Services Directive was featured prominently, with particular emphasis on legal means to enforce the EAA.

Carlos Duarte is the leader of Working Group 1 of the LEAD-ME COST action. This working group activities focus on collecting and making available information about EU-funded projects, past, present, and future, in the different domains of media and accessibility.
