Carlos Duarte, a LASIGE researcher, was invited to participate in the Concertation event, “Outcomes and Outlooks of Research on Sign Language Technology in Europe”, organized by the research and innovation projects EASIER (Intelligent Automatic Sign Language Translation) and SignON (Sign Language Translation Mobile Application and Open Communications Framework), in collaboration with the LEAD-ME (COST) Action. The event, held in Brussels on November 29, 2023, received support from the European Commission.

During the event, Carlos Duarte delivered a presentation addressing the impact of legislation and guidelines on web accessibility for the deaf community. His overview explored the current legislative landscape and its implications within the context of the deaf community. Additionally, he shed light on future challenges that demand dedicated research efforts to advance accessibility for this community.
