Carlos Duarte, LASIGE integrated member, has participated in a round table “Citizen First: Trust, Empathy and Digital Identity in the Citiverse” at the 1st Citiverse Assembly, on 3 November 2025, in Valencia, Spain.

The session explored how AI-powered virtual spaces can either reinforce or transcend stereotypes, and how systems like the “Kindness Credits” can nurture more supportive, inclusion and human-centred digital identities.

The Assembly was organized by the Global Initiative on Virtual Worlds and AI – Discovering the Citiverse, bringing together mayors, policymakers, international organizations, industry leaders, and innovators, providing a global platform for dialogue, collaboration, and action on the future of AI-powered virtual worlds.

The programme featured a series of sessions highlighting concrete city use cases, practical tools, and inclusive approaches that demonstrate the potential of AI-powered virtual worlds. The Assembly also celebrated innovation through the UN Citiverse Challenge Startup Award, which recognized pioneering entrepreneurial solutions that address pressing urban challenges. In addition, a series of new deliverables will be launched, reflecting the collective progress of the Initiative’s tracks.
