Hugo Miranda, LASIGE integrated member, co-authored an opinion piece in the newspaper Público on January 28th, 2025, celebrating the European Day on Data Protection.

In the piece, Hugo highlights the responsibility of each citizen in the protection of his personal data, instead of relying exclusively on the European Regulations of which GDPR is the most common example. The article presents a few examples of practices that can be followed by the citizens to further protect their personal data.

Finally it suggests to each citizen to define their own personal data policy and try to implement it as much as possible, for example by questioning the amount and utility of many of the personal data required by public and private entities.
