LASIGE celebrates the tenth anniversary of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science (IDWGS), aligned with the message of the UN Secretary-General António Guterres “let’s help pave a path to STEM careers that women and girls deserve – and our world needs”.

LASIGE recognizes that women and girls play a critical role in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), and encourages their empowerment.

Ana Paula Afonso, LASIGE integrated member, emphasized the decisive role of women in Computer Science research and expressed ‘their creativity and contribution to innovation, as well as to scientific and technological advances, have decisively transformed society, strengthening diversity and inclusion and paving the way for more advanced and impactful science’.
