Carlos Duarte participated in the last edition of the NEM Summit, an international conference on Media and Content organised by the NEM Initiative. For the first time in its history, the NEM Summit hosted a session on media accessibility, named “Accessibility – Is it the greatest challenge in the media industry today?”.

Carlos Duarte was an invited speaker for the second part of the session – Access challenges in the media industry today and tomorrow – where he presented “Universal is not enough: going back to Personal”, his vision for the future of media accessibility. Carlos Duarte also participated in the closing panel of this session, together with representatives of the European Commission, the European Disability Forum, and other Universities and Research Institutes.

The event took place at Porto, Portugal, from November 23rd to 25th.
