JBT app presented at the 2nd meeting of the LxDataLab

Former MSc student Rafael Torres, presented the JBT – JARDIM BOTÂNICO TROPICAL (JBT App) at the 2nd Meeting of the Lisbon Urban Data Laboratory (LxDataLab). The event took place on May 28, 2024, at the CML Social Services Auditorium. In the presentation, titled, “Augmented Reality Experiences in the JBT mobile application”, Torres outlined the purpose of the application, which is to enhance the experience of visitors to the University of Lisbon’s Tropical Botanical Garden (JBT, from the Portuguese Jardim Botânico Portugal) by offering themed routes, augmented reality experiences and multimedia content for educational purposes.

The app is part of a project by the Rectorate of the University of Lisbon (ULisboa) in collaboration with partners from Ciencias ULisboa and the National Museum of Natural History and Science of ULisboa. In addition to Rafael Torres, the developing team included LASIGE’s former and current members Stefan Postolashe, Ana Paula AfonsoAna Paula CláudioAntónio FerreiraMaria Beatriz Carmo and Dulce Domingos.

LxDataLab is a partnership between the Lisbon Urban Management and Intelligence Centre and 19 universities and institutions of higher education and scientific research. At the 2nd edition of the meeting, 20 projects by students and researchers were presented, focusing on areas such as mobility, environment, economy, and governance. These projects showcased data analytics and visualization solutions developed in partnership with CML and various national universities, as well as innovation projects based on Lisbon Data.
