Date: 02/01/2025

André Rodrigues, an integrated member of LASIGE, gave a talk at the Rainha D. Leonor Lencastre Primary and Secondary School in Sintra on ‘New Technologies, Opportunities and Challenges for Young People’ on 17 December 2024. The initiative is part of the Youth Parliament Programme and the “Programa Cientificamente Provável”, of which LASIGE is a partner.

The presentation focused on the role of games in society and the impact of technology and data on young people and their future. The presentation covered the influence of games on social interactions, cognitive development, and well-being. It also addressed the ethical implications of data collection and use in the digital age.

This lecture contributed to building critical thinking on the subject, achieving one of the objectives of the Youth Parliament Programme, enriching the students’ education, giving them contact with a researcher and research practices, and thus motivating them to deepen their knowledge and pursue higher education in areas of their interest, contributing to their individual and collective present and future.
