LASIGE and the World Logic Day

Date: 14/01/2026

January 14th is the World Logic Day! Celebrated around the globe with a wide range of activities, the date was officially adopted by UNESCO in 2019 to honor the legacy of two towering figures of the 20th century: Kurt Gödel and Alfred Tarski.

LASIGE is deeply involved in the study of the principles of reasoning. One of its members, Vasco T. Vasconcelos, was a founding member and is currently a member of the Governing Board of the Portuguese Logic Society (SPL), which was founded precisely on the World Logic Day in 2022.

SPL organizes the Logic Colloquium, through a series of monthly lectures, to promote research and knowledge in this area, from mathematical logic to philosophical logic, as well as logic for artificial intelligence and computational theory. The next lecture entitled “Making Propositions-as-Sessions Run”, will take place on 21 January 2026.
