Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT, the Portuguese national funding agency for science, research, and technology) released the results of the 2023 Call for Exploratory Projects in all scientific fields, corresponding to an investment of around 20 million euros, supported by national funds through the FCT budget.

Andreia Mordido, Bernardo Ferreira and Márcia Barros are the PIs of the exploratory research projects (PeX), with a duration of 18 months and maximum funding per project of 50 thousand euros, with an initial advance of 75% of the amount awarded.

1,890 applications were submitted, of which 1,791 were accepted for evaluation, in accordance with the terms of the call for proposals. The call’s provisional success rate is 22% compared to the number of applications accepted.
