Continuing the work of LASIGE on Cyber-Threat Intelligence (CTI) tools for knowledge extraction and sharing from Open Source INTelligence (OSINT), Samaneh Shafee, a PhD student supervised by Alysson Bessani and Pedro M. Ferreira, published the paper entitled “Evaluation of LLM-based chatbots for OSINT-based Cyber Threat Awareness” on the journal “Expert Systems with Applications” with an impact factor of 7.5 and ranked within the top 10% of the Scimago Journal Ranking. The paper presents a survey on chatbot models and their application to cybersecurity, analyses the inherent flexibility of chatbots for specific requirements of CTI applications, and highlights the strengths and limitations of chatbots compared to specialized deep learning models.
