Late October, Carlos Duarte, LASIGE integrated member, was at the virtual kick-off meeting of the “Leading Platform for European Citizens, Industries, Academia and Policymakers in Media Accessibility” (LEAD-ME) COST Action (CA19142), that aims to contribute towards existing and new standards on Media Accessibility among 28 European or associated countries. Our researcher, besides being one of the Portuguese representatives on the Management Committee is also the website's responsible for the development and maintenance.
LEAD-ME aims to help all stakeholders in the field of Media Accessibility and cross-cutting topics (e.g. AI and Interactive Technologies) in Europe to meet the legal milestones requested by the recently passed European legislation. It will be empowered by a common and unique platform that will collect, create, share, and disseminate innovative technologies and solutions, best practices and guidelines, and promote them.
COST Actions make a real difference by ensuring that research cooperation optimizes national investments in research and technology and unlocks thereby the full potential of science, mainly in EU countries. It funds networking tools, such as meetings, conferences, workshops, short-term scientific missions, training schools, publications, and dissemination activities.
