NavXR project @ Smart City of Rock

Date: 10/07/2026

LASIGE researchers showcased an interactive demonstrator focused on accessibility and inclusive technologies from the NavXR project at Rock in Rio Lisboa. Our PhD students Pedro Trindade and Manuel Piçarra were at the event as part of the Smart City of Rock initiative at the University of Lisbon stand.

During the event, visitors had the opportunity to try an inclusive game prototype that lets users participate in a boxing match using 3D audio and haptic feedback.

By bringing this prototype to the Smart City of Rock, the team successfully tested inclusive interactive experiences with the public in a dynamic, real-world setting, reinforcing LASIGE’s commitment to delivering research with real-world impact.

The event served as a collaborative ecosystem and living lab where technology, creativity, and innovation were tested in a real-world context within a temporary city welcoming around 100,000 visitors per day.
