Mobile Optimization on Security through Algorithmic Improvement
Description

The project “Mobile Optimization on Security through Algorithmic Improvement” addresses the growing tension between mobile security and device performance, recognizing that current protection mechanisms often drain resources and overwhelm users with complex permission requests that lack transparency, as highlighted by GDPR. By combining evolutionary computation, multi-objective optimization, and machine learning, the project seeks to refine security algorithms to maintain strong protection while reducing CPU load, memory usage, and energy consumption. Beyond controlled environments, optimized solutions will be tested in real-world applications from platforms such as F-Droid, GitHub, and curated iOS repositories, across diverse devices and network conditions. Two main challenges drive the initiative: (i) designing efficient, AI-optimized security algorithms that predict and minimize energy footprints, and (ii) developing benchmarks and guidelines that link vulnerabilities, resource costs, and best practices for developers.
