The EU H2020 SMART2B’ project (coordinated by EDP NEW) virtual kick-off meeting started today, September 21st, 2021 and was attended by Pedro Ferreira, LASIGE integrated member and Ciências ULisboa Professor, who leads LASIGE participation in the consortium, and Guilherme Carrilho da Graça, also a Ciências ULisboa Professor and a researcher at Instituto Dom Luiz (IDL).
This project involves 8 countries: Portugal, Italy, Denmark, Austria, Spain, Greece, Germany and Belgium and 13 entities from academia, business sector, and public administration, being 2 linked third-parties and 11 partners: EDP NEW, Ciências ULisboa, RWTH Aachen University, TU Graz University of Technology, Vito – Vlaamse Instelling voor Technologisch Onderzoek N.V., CERTH – Centre for Research & Technology Hellas, Odin Solutions SL., Enerbrain, Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa, Albertslund Municipality, Day One Startup Studio and Smart Energy Lab and EDP C (as third parties).
This project aims to develop and deploy non-intrusive IoT sensors and actuators in existing buildings to solve one of the main problems of improving buildings’ indoor comfort and energy efficiency: the structural (physical and financial) limits of installing, monitoring, automating and control existing devices in buildings. For that effect, it proposes plug & play devices that interact with the appliances and legacy equipment already installed and communicates the collected data to the cloud for remote monitoring, data analysis based on AI and machine learning, and control.
