Abstract: With the increased availability of IoT and cloud computing platforms, data collection and monitoring capabilities in buildings have increased significantly. The prospect of accessing energy-related information from buildings on a large scale enables viable solutions to problems that were known only in theory to have a significant impact on the preservation of energy resources. This talk will present the SATO project, an H2020 project recently funded by the European Commission, coordinated by FCUL. Additionally, open problems in the energy management of buildings will be described as well as possible contributions that data may bring to solve these problems.
Bio: Pedro Ferreira, Systems Engineering and Computing (1996), PhD in Electronics Engineering and Computing (2008), is an Associate Professor at the Department of Informatics of FCUL and an integrated member of the LASIGE research unit. He has more than 70 peer-reviewed publications and participated in international and national projects. He currently coordinates the H2020 SATO project. His work focuses on machine learning applications for buildings’ energy efficiency and cybersecurity application areas. His main research interests are computational/artificial Intelligence methods, artificial neural networks, process modeling, control systems, and prediction/forecasting methods.
