Talk1: Triclustering Algorithms For Three-Way Temporal Data Analysis
Speaker: Diogo F. Soares
Temporal data analysis has gained increasing attention in recent years, aiming to identify patterns and trends that change over time. Temporal triclustering is a promising approach for this purpose, as it allows for the simultaneous clustering of three data axes: objects, features, and time. However, the existing algorithms were designed to address specific problems and are not prepared to be used widely. In this talk, I will present a comparative study of state-of-the-art triclustering algorithms prepared for temporal data. This study quantitatively assesses several triclustering algorithms to unravel their strengths and limitations. To this end, synthetic data with varying sizes and regularities are considered to assess their capacity to retrieve specific types of hidden patterns. Diogo Soares’ research falls in the DSI research line.
Talk2: To CMU HCII and Back
Speaker: Hugo Simão
This talk focuses on the two years spent at CMU, divided into four parts. The first part focuses on the integration at the Human-Computer Interaction Institute, which combines engineering, design, the arts, psychology, philosophy, sociology… Next, my integration on AI Caring, a project exploring AI agents to support older
adults with mild dementia and caregivers. The third part focuses on my participation in the Critical HCI reading group, where we research AI ethics, the role of AI agents, and power dynamics in technology. The
fourth and last part goes beyond research, focusing on the CMU environment and how that led to unexpected experiences and opportunities. The talk will conclude with reflections and insights that would be interesting to consider in the LASIGE context. Hugo Simão’s research falls in the IHCI research line.
