Talk1: Understanding Phishing Experiences of Screen Reader Users
Speaker: João Janeiro
Summary: Current phishing countermeasures depend strongly on vision, often inadequate for screen reader users. We conducted 10 semistructured interviews and 14 lab-based sessions with screen reader users to understand their phishing experiences and defenses.

Talk2: Inclusive Competition: Mixed-Ability Sports and Gaming
Speaker: Pedro Trindade
Summary: Competition is typically centered on balance, fairness, and symmetric play. However, in mixed-ability competition, symmetric play is often not possible or desirable. Currently, it is not clear what can or should be done in the pursuit of the design of inclusive competitive experiences (in sports and games). In this talk, I present the perspectives of 15 individuals with motor or visual disabilities who actively engage in competitive activities (e.g., Paralympics, competitive gaming). We explore motivations to compete, team structures, ability disclosure, rankings, and technology’s role in competition, focusing on (1) how competition is experienced in mixed-ability settings, (2) factors influencing fairness and inclusion, and (3) reflections for designing more inclusive experiences.
