Tiago Guerreiro delivers Invited Talk at APIC Annual Meeting on Co-Designing Health Technologies

Date: 20/11/2025

Tiago Guerreiro, LASIGE integrated member, was invited to deliver a talk at the APIC Annual Meeting (Associação Portuguesa de Intervenção Cardiovascular), one of the main national forums for interventional cardiology, which occurred on Nov 20-22, 2025.

The invited talk focused on Augmented Reality (AR) as a human-centred technology for supporting complex clinical procedures, presenting ongoing and recent research developed at the lab on the use of AR to enhance perception, decision-making, and collaboration in high-stakes medical contexts. The presentation highlighted how AR systems can be designed to augment clinicians’ capabilities while respecting cognitive load, workflow integration, and safety constraints.

The talk also emphasized the importance of co-design with clinicians, longitudinal evaluation in real clinical settings, and the careful introduction of AI-driven and immersive technologies in healthcare, particularly in intervention-intensive domains such as cardiology.

This invitation reflects the growing relevance of the lab’s work at the intersection of interactive technologies, health, and clinical practice, and reinforces ongoing collaborations between computer science researchers and medical professionals.
