António Casimiro, LASIGE integrated member, coordinates the Portuguese participation in the project "Very Efficient Deep Learning in the Internet of Things" (VEDLIoT), in areas such as security and reliability, in particular for distributed systems and IoT, making robust the solutions that will be developed, attending to potential attacks.
This project aims to develop a next-generation IoT platform and use methods of machine learning, including Deep Learning, instead of relying on conventional methods, such as those from statistics.
The recently EU funding project (8 Million €) joins 12 partners from various countries – Germany, Poland, Portugal, and Sweden – as well as Switzerland, an EU association state, over the course of three years. Seven partners are universities and research institutes that operate in the areas of Artificial Intelligence and IoT; others are companies, such as the startup EmbeDL and the multinational Siemens. The consortium is coordinated by the Research Institute for Cognition and Robotics (CoR-Lab) at the University of Bielefeld, Germany.
The Portuguese participation will be also responsible for the task of dissemination and exploiting results, coordinating activities in order to give visibility to the project and its results.
