LASIGE with Strong Presence at CHI 2025

LASIGE researchers showed a strong presence at the ACM CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems (CHI 2025), the flagship venue in HCI (CORE A*). The team presented four full papers, including a best paper honorable mention award, a SIGCHI Societal Impact Award, one late-breaking work (LBW), and two workshop papers. These research efforts span the areas of Human-Computer Interaction, Accessible Computing, Digital Gaming, Virtual Reality, and Pervasive Healthcare.

The conference took place in Yokohama, Japan, from the 26th of April to the 1st of May. Please find the full papers below:

– “Perspectives on Mixed-Ability Competition” by Pedro Trindade, João Guerreiro, André Rodrigues. Honorable Mention

– “Designing and Evaluating a VR Boxing Experience with Blind People”, co-authored with Manuel Piçarra, Letícia Seixas Pereira, Carlos Duarte, André Rodrigues, João Guerreiro and former LASIGE members Diogo Furtado, Renato Alexandre Ribeiro.

– “Awareness in Collaborative Mixed-Visual Ability Tangible Programming Activitie, by Filipa Rocha, Hugo Simão, João Nogueira, Isabel Neto, Tiago Guerreiro,  and Hugo Nicolau.

– “Digital Technologies for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children: a Systematic Review, Critical Reflections, and Future Research Directions”, by Jing Zhao, Isabel Neto, Ana Cristina Pires (LASIGE former member), Catarina Tomé-Pires, Hugo Nicolau.

At the same time, at the workshop, researchers Diana Pimentel, Diogo Branco and Filipa Brito presented articles and Inês Ferrejal, selected as a student volunteer, presented a poster.
