In this project, we propose NavXR, an approach that connects the physical and digital worlds to support blind people navigating indoor spaces. Using off-the-shelf smartphones, NavXR will enable mapping, localization, and real-time assistance without requiring external infrastructure. The project explores two complementary directions: augmenting physical spaces with virtual elements to offer dynamic support, and creating a navigable virtual replica of those spaces. This bidirectional link will enable users to explore environments in advance and add virtual annotations that enhance real-world navigation.
