The BinBot project was one of those selected in the 2026 National Young Entrepreneurs Competition, organized by the “Fundação da Juventude”, to be showcased at the National Young Entrepreneurs Exhibition, held in Porto from 1 to 3 June 2026.

It was one of the winning projects and was delivered the “Banco Português de Fomento – Mentoring Award” to our researcher, and MSc student, Frederico Cerqueira.

The BinBot is an initiative aimed at exploring the use of intelligent robotic systems for urban waste management. Its prototype will test both the technical feasibility and the social impact of solutions that integrate artificial intelligence, human-machine interaction, and environmental sustainability.

This project, led by João Bimbo, as principal investigator, received funding under the competitive LASIGE/FCT Seed Projects Call 2025.
