Bruno Loff, LASIGE integrated member, published the paper “State preparation by shallow circuits using feed forward” in the Quantum journal, a top 10 per cent Scimago publication.
Because quantum computers that we can build so far are very simple, researchers have been looking at what is possible using only a few layers of quantum gates. More precisely, in this paper we consider a quantum model we have qubits placed on a grid, acted upon by a constant number of layers of quantum gates, between which there are O(log n)-depth classical computation. This paper shows that certain surprising quantum tasks can be carried out, and certain quantum states can be prepared in such a model.
