This annual compilation is conducted by Stanford University in the USA and published by Elsevier BV, highlighting the leading 2% of scientists globally across various fields based on standardised citation metrics. The data includes both career-long and single-year impact. The 2025 database was published on September 19, 2025.
Vasco T. Vasconcelos has been included for the fifth consecutive year, Alysson Bessani for the fourth consecutive year, and Cátia Pesquita for the third consecutive year on the list of the top 2% of most-cited authors throughout their careers. Additionally, Francisco M. Couto has made the list for the first time. Alysson Bessani has again been recognised, marking his sixth consecutive appearance on the annual list of the top 2% most-cited authors. The career-long citation data has been updated to reflect information through the end of 2024, while the single-year data pertains to citations received during the calendar year 2024.
Vasconcelos’ primary research focus is on Reliable Software Systems, Bessani specialises in Dependable and Secure Decentralized Systems, and Pesquita and Couto concentrate on Health and Biomedical Informatics and Data and Systems Intelligence.
